Finally, my dad is medically stable enough to have his surgery to implant an internal defibrillator and pacemaker. I haven't slept much, hence the early post here. He is glad that things are wrapping up, and I hope it all goes well.
With any luck, he'll be out of the hospital in a few days...
P.S. The device they are implanting in my dad is called an ICD. I told him that if at any point they mention an IUD, and start working on the wrong end of him, that he should be concerned.

Prayers and good thoughts being sent your way.
Ditto. Hope he's back home soon!
Good luck to him- I know it's been tough- but you're keeping a sense of humor!
I will be praying for and thinking of you guys. And if they do put in the IUD at least you can mark unwanted pregnancy off your list of worries.
Who knows? IUD might do the trick! Best wishes for your dad's adjustment to his (whichever) device!
Best of luck to you and your dad - I'm sure he'll love being in his own bed again!
